West Suburban Teen Clinic offers comprehensive, professional, and low-cost medical, mental health, and health education services to youth ages 12 to 23 in a nonjudgmental, relaxed, friendly atmosphere where young people can feel comfortable. We also provide education and support for parents of adolescents and community members. Our service area includes western Hennepin, Carver and Scott Counties.

WSTC staff members know that many issues facing teens, young adults and their families - including family conflict, tobacco, alcohol and drug use, sexual health and behavior, contraception, and pregnancy - can be complicated, emotionally painful, and controversial. WSTC staff members feel strongly that youth deserve developmentally appropriate health care services that address their unique physical, social, and emotional needs. Our goal is to provide accurate information, teach problem-solving skills, and reinforce healthy decision-making. These services contribute to better-informed, healthier individuals who are then more able to make positive health and behavior choices as they transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Many of our clients come to WSTC because they are uninsured or under-insured and cannot afford access to other health care. Others may be covered by their parents’ insurance, but can not use it because they fear the services will not be confidential. Most of the schools and organizations to which we provide outreach education and group counseling cannot afford to pay for these services. For these reasons, we must depend on public funds through the state and counties, the generosity of foundations, WSTC donors, and the United Way, for over 80% of our revenue.

West Suburban Teen Clinic is a member of the Neighborhood Health Care Network, SAFPLAN (Strategic Alliance for Family Planning), MOAPPP (Minnesota Organization for Adolescent Pregnancy, Parenting and Prevention), SEFL (Sexuality Education for Life), SFLE (Sexuality and Family Life Educators), the Excelsior Chamber of Commerce and is proud to be strongly aligned with North Suburban Youth Health Clinic (The Annex) and Teen Age Medical Services (TAMS).

WSTC has been designated by the state of Minnesota as an Essential Community Provider.

WSTC was chosen as the 2003 Community Hero of the Year by the Excelsior Area Chamber of Commerce.
