What is it?
The Minnesota Family Planning Program is a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL health care program that covers the cost of family planning services.
You qualify if you are:
- Between 15-50 years old
- A Minnesota resident
- A citizen or a noncitizen who is qualified to participate in federally funded programs
- Not enrolled in other MN Health Care programs (i.e. MN Care, Medical Assistance)
- Not currently pregnant and interested in preventing pregnancies
- Earning less than $1702 gross/month (earn approximately $425 or less per week) for a single person
What services are covered?
- Family planning exams (Annual exams or Birth Control exams)
- Birth control methods
- Plan B/Emergency Contraceptive Pill/Morning After Pill
- Testing and treatment of STIs found during a family planning visit
Is my privacy protected?
- This program follows all state and federal privacy laws.
- f you want, the WSTC address may be used for the mailing address.
- You do not need to tell them if you have other private health care insurance.
- You do not need a parent’s permission to apply.
How do I apply?
- Come into WSTC to complete an application or complete the application online and bring it into the clinic. Click here for an application.
- If you qualify, your short-term coverage starts that day.
- To continue coverage you must provide proof of identity, citizenship, and income within the first couple of months.
- Proof of identity and citizenship: Either a passport, or a birth certificate AND a photo ID (like a drivers license, school ID, etc.).
- Proof of income: If you work, they need one month of recent pay stubs in a row.
