Our Credentials
West Suburban Teen Clinic (WSTC) provides reproductive health care and education, mental health counseling and basic medical care in an environment that is not only comfortable and welcoming to teens and young adults, but is professional and comparable to what you would expect from any other health provider.
- We are an Essential Community Provider of health care by the State of Minnesota.
- The WSTC Medical Director is a physician who specializes in adolescent medicine. Dr. Naomi Duke is board certified in pediatrics, internal medicine and adolescent medicine. She also holds a master’s of public health degree in maternal and child health.
- Our clinicians, counselors and educators have specialized training and experience in addressing the unique physical, emotional and social needs of teens and young adults.
- Our basic medical services and reproductive health services are delivered by board certified physicians, certified nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and certified medical assistants.
- Our procedures and operations are based on sound medical practice, including an intake procedure that is based on the American Medical Association’s Guidelines for Adolescent Preventative Services.
- The WSTC medical lab is regulated and certified by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments.
- WSTC is reviewed annually and compliant with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and our procedures are compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
- Our staff members stay current in our understanding of issues that are important to teens. We have a youth advisory board that alerts us to emerging issues, gives us feedback and helps us deliver on our mission.
- We offer mental health counseling, provided by licensed social workers, tailored to the issues that teens and young adults face.
- WSTC is a participating provider for many major Minnesota health plans.
- We refer clients to other providers and social service agencies for needs that cannot be met through WSTC.
- Tens of thousands of education presentations every year are presented by the WSTC health education staff, most of whom are licensed teachers and hold advanced degrees.
- We are a member of the Neighborhood Health Care Network, the Minnesota Organization on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Parenting, and the Minnesota Council on Nonprofits.
- WSTC is governed by a 15 member Board of Directors, who meet 10 times per year.
- WSTC has been reviewed by and met the rigorous standards of the Charities Review Council.
