Attendance at a family planning counseling session, provided by WSTC staff or highly trained volunteers who follow a specific curriculum, is required for all clients wishing to receive a family planning method. The one hour class is free of charge and given at the clinic on Tuesday afternoons at 3:45pm and Wednesday evenings at 6:45pm. Individual sessions are arranged for all who cannot attend during those times, or who need language translation. Classes include a thorough discussion of all methods of contraception available, prescriptive or non-prescriptive, including method details, contraindications to use of the method, effectiveness rates, risks and benefits, and proper use. Clients are given a hands-on demonstration of each method and are give the chance to practice, when applicable. Questions are welcome and solicited. Incentives, such as movie ticket vouchers to local theaters, are given to males who attend with their partners.
