Each client who comes to WSTC for an initial, annual, general medical or school/sports physical receives one-to-one HIV/STI risk reduction education based on a curriculum developed by the MDH. Clients are asked to identify risk factors they have, such as whether they or any sexual partners use drugs injected with a needle, number of partners they have had, whether they use condoms, how well they communicate with partners about sexual issues, whether their male partners have sex with other males, whether they have ever had an STI, and whether they have had sex under the influence drugs or alcohol. The educator then reviews all of these issues with them, gives them information about STIs, and brainstorms ways to reduce risk levels.
